Here are some guidelines for making the correct measurement of your rods:
1. Measure your window from the outside of the
window frame edges.
2. We recommend you allow approximately 2"
minimum either side of the window frame for each
bracket to sit comfortably without looking too cramped.
3. Each finial has its dimensions so that you can check
for clearance either side of your window frame.
A.Your window frame measures 40" from one
edge to another.
B. Add 4" for both brackets.
C. Add the width of each finial,
for instance #143 is 4" x 2 = 8"
(Clearance from obstructions for each
of the finials recommended 1" min.)
For this example the length of rod to order is 44"
We make no recommendations as to the height
placement of the brackets as this depends on
fabric length, height of window frame etc.
Q: What if I have two windows joining in a corner
with no space for finials?
Ans: We would suggest two rods joining at the
corner with a screw attachment (#HBR510), together
with three instead of four standard brackets.
Q: I have a window that has no space for a finial.
What can I do?
Ans: Perhaps a Ball finial (#E407) would fit
or an End Cap (#E409).
